This is a post about restomodding
Projected outcome:
Firstly, I decided to go for a resto-mod rather than a restoration for a number of reasons;
1. My assumption was that it would probably be a lot cheaper
2. I prefer to tweak and modify things anyway. This will be an ongoing project of refinement
3. It's more fun. If I want to try and build a fibreglass or aluminium bonnet then I can
4. Engine and body numbers don't match and the engine is out of a GTV anyway.
Prior to this project, the extent of my metalworking prowess was to make a shuriken for metal work in high school. In my head, I'm a perfectionist but my skills are going to take some time to catch up
Background:
I picked up this car back in 2019. It then sat in my carport at another residence for about three years while I sporadically cleaned, removed and replaced various items.The car had been registered in Victoria in 2013 but had since been living in Adelaide when I came across it. No other history is known. The Spider is a US version with the ugly bumpers. It had been converted to right hand drive at some stage but was very poorly done. In mid 2020, we relocated to another house. Since late 2022, I've been getting serious about getting this car on the road and will try to document the process as much as possible.
